Nissan is planning to expand its Tennessee Auto Manufacturing facility and adding 1,000 new jobs in Smyrna as part of a $160 million expansion. The Japanese automaker plans to build a new supplier park at its auto assembly plant in Tennessee. The new project is expected to be completed in 2017 and will resemble the one that the company announced in 2013 at its Canton Mississippi facility. Gov. Nissan has selected two new winners of the Nissan PlayStation GT Academy and they are on their way to racing a Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 in the Blancpain Endurance Series. Winners, Gaetan Paletou, from France and Ricardo Sanchez, from Mexico were selected as the winners of the European and International GT Academy competitions last year and have dominated Nissan’s development program and competitions. The two young men will now take on one of the world’s toughest GT racing competitions. “I still find it hard to believe what is happening in my life,” said Sanchez. “Every time I think about it I smile as this has always been my dream. The hard work really starts now though. Monza is a very fast track with a lot of history, so I feel proud to have the opportunity to race the GT-R there.
