Chris Hoy is an eleven-time world and six-time
Olympic cycling champion, but his life is now taking an unexpected turn – he
plans to ditch his two wheels for four instead. Nissan has announced that they
have chosen Hoy as the brand ambassador on the Road to Rio 2016. This entails
that Nissan put Hoy through its Driver Development Program to get him
familiarized with this new world he has become a part of. Recently, however,
Hoy has demonstrated to have great talent – he has raced in several club races
and Nissan will train him to compete in the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 at this
year’s British GT Championship, but it won’t stop there. The ultimate goal of
this program is to get Hoy to compete at the 2016 Le Mans 24 Hours endurance
race. Hoy commented, “Nissan is already a huge contributor to the British
economy with its investment in manufacturing, technology, and design – now it
is also investing in British sporting success via the Team GB and Paralympics
GB programs. It’s fantastic for me to be working with Nissan GB on this.”
