Nissan Is a Performance Brand: The Top 5 Proof Points

nissan performance

Nissan is blazing an exciting new path and we’re loving the ride.

A lot of people would not associate the word “performance” with the global car manufacturer Nissan. We get it. After all, the Leaf is made by Nissan. Can the Leaf be considered a performance car? Probably not.  The Leaf is just the start of the direction Nissan is going, though. We think it’s pretty cool that they can push off their long-developed technologies for electric vehicles to speed ahead in the performance arena. They usually stun with a new car, or a win, at Le Mans, so that’s nothing to sneeze at. And they are great at combining the fuel technologies of tomorrow with performance builds. We don’t see any other car manufacturers that have the same kind of focus and that makes Nissan unique. Here’s more proof that Nissan is owning the reputation of a performance brand:

  1. They were rated one of greatest Japanese sports cars of all time.

Maxim magazine ranked the Nissan Skyline GT-R R32 as one of the top sports cars ever coming out of Japan. This car is now considered practically an antique, but it shows that Nissan has a history of performance know-how.

  1. They were a top performer at the Olympics.

Nissan stunned the world with the unveiling of their 2017 BladeGlider prototype in Rio last August, touted to be one of first ever all-electric sports cars. It is the embodiment of future technologies, and demonstrates where Nissan is focusing their brand (on the future!)

  1. They are bringing even more performance to their EVs.

The infrastructure for electric vehicles continues to grow both here in the states and across the pond, and Nissan is keeping up with demand by constantly improving the batteries and other performance factors in their electric vehicles—proving that performance is their mission in every country and for every model.

  1. They are learning from the past and building on their success.

Speaking of the GT-R R32, wait until you see how Nissan has revamped it for 2017. It’s the most gorgeous muscle car we’ve ever seen.

  1. They keep revving their engines.

Nissan clearly understands the power of a powerful engine. You would be hard-pressed to find another automaker that has produced more performance-oriented engines than Nissan. For people who care about going fast, Nissan always delivers the horsepower.

Nissan’s Armada: Leading the SUV surge.

nissan armada 3

“There’s never been a better time to purchase the SUV you’ve always wanted.”

Nissan is one the largest and most well known car manufacturers in the world. Even as a car manufacturer that sells vehicles around the globe, they need to be on their toes to maintain a competitive edge and solidify their rightful spot as a leader. The newly redesigned full-size Armada SUV from Nissan does just that. It shows the world why Nissan is a leader.

This is the perfect time for Nissan to bring to market the new redesign of the Armada—they’ve certainly done their research. First, because fuel prices are still low. Therefore, it’s natural for people to start considering bigger cars and trucks again after the lagging economy and high fuel prices around 2008 saw sales of those models diminish. Now is also the “sweet spot” for car sales on the calendar year. Summer is pretty much a distant memory. Anticipation for the 2017 models is building. And as we inch closer and closer to winter, no matter what part of the country you live in, you start to think about a sturdier vehicle like an SUV to get you through the weather or a holiday road trip.

The 2017 Nissan Armada is a lot like the Infiniti QX80 in quite a few ways. For example, the engine, driveline, platform and design are all just like the Infiniti QX80. Which means it drives like the amazing machine that it is, and on top of that, it has great styling as well. This iteration of the Armada SUV is down-scaled to be more svelte and less hefty than the QX80, so it appears more up-to-date and desirable. In the looks category, it is like a cross between a truck and an SUV. We like the new appeal and think it will also appeal to a wider range of drivers. Plus, it’s built like truck on the inside. Just take the kit, for instance. It includes sturdy construction, 8,500 pound towing capacity, an impressive 5.6-liter, direct-injected V-8 and 390hp for enduranc, and 401 lb-ft of torque on regular gasoline. The engine is almost identical to the Infiniti, with a seven-speed automatic transmission fastened to a transfer case with a 2.70:1 low range. Wrap it up with a tremendous package of drivers-aid tech and you have a little luxury, a lot of comfort and still a rugged vehicle that can do the work and give you some off-road cred.

Nissan Is A Big Fan Of National Drive Electric Week

nissan logo 1

Nissan promotes National Drive Electric Week September 10-18.

National Drive Electric Week is a program started by Plug In America. The idea behind it is to educate the general public about EVs, stage a lot of demonstrations, allow people to ride in an EV, let people drive an EV and ultimately get more drivers to switch from gasoline cars to electric cars. There are events and celebrations across the country, with events planned in Monterey, CA on September 17, 2017. For more dates and places visit https://driveelectricweek.org/events-list.php

We are not surprised that Nissan is promoting National Drive Electric Week due to their investment in, and success with, Electric Vehicles (EVs). The Nissan LEAF has seen the highest sales ever in history for an electric car. Nissan has put a lot of time and resources behind their Nissan BladeGlider concept card. And in Europe, EVs are beginning to outpace sales of traditional cars. Remember those things we used to drive with the combustion engines? (Said our children’s children).

So Nissan’s focus on EVs makes sense and in fact, is commendable because it is better for the environment to have fewer gas operated cars and trucks on the road. The trend toward EVs looks promising in that regard. There are other benefits, of course. No gas. No oil changes. No tailpipe. No gross fumes in the air. And no emissions. That’s zero CO2 released into the atmosphere. Even Hybrids emit some CO2 because they are not 100% electric.

As the infrastructure for EVs continues to grow and spread, so will the demand for EVs. Car manufacturers like Nissan are already on the forefront of this new technology and we can’t wait to see where they go with it. If we know Nissan, we’re sure they’ll move smoothly and quickly into the future.

Would you like to learn more about EVs and what options are available out there? We would love to help. Come see us at Coast Nissan, or visit CoastNissan.com.

Nissan Races 2016 Micra

Coast Nissan 6 shutterstock_442676977-1

The Nissan Micra, available in Canada, is a relatively low costing vehicle starting at just $10,000. Surprisingly, this small vehicle is used for races across the country. This subcompact car, though not the most flashy car on the market, holds its own when pitted against other vehicles.

A Nissan Mirca Cup Car is similar to the regular model, but doesn’t have the usual bonuses most of the models have. However, it does decrease the weight of the vehicle. This also increases the safety of the driver. Though the Nissan Mirca Cup Car lacks rear seats, the front seats are high quality racing seats with three-point harnesses. A roll cage and window net was added to the car, which is a “must” in all racing vehicles. Nissan uses elements from its other vehicles to outfit the model with the best technology the little car can handle. The brakes have been swapped out with race quality brakes on both the front and rear wheels of the vehicle.

With a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, the Nissan Mirca Cup Car emits 109 horsepower. The engine on the Mirca doesn’t go through any changes from the regular road car edition of the Mirca. Though there is no boost of power from add-ons, the Mirca can still travel quickly due to its weight of 2,200 pounds. The unique qualities of this car make it fun to drive on the race track. It has a unique combination of low power, great tires and strong brakes that make corners easier to maneuver on the race track. To get the Nissan Mirca Cup Car ready for the track, it costs about $23,000—a reasonable price for a race ready car.

Though this model isn’t the same as the standard Nissan Mirca, Nissan proves a great car isn’t defined by the numbers on the price tag or the spec list. By continuously participating in these kinds of events, Nissan find new ways to make their vehicles top notch. To view the latest models Nissan has to offer, visit Coast Nissan.

Preventive Maintenance Saves You Money

Coast Nissan 5 shutterstock_384429079

They say you need to spend money to make money, but in the case of your vehicle, you need to spend a little to save a lot. Keeping up with the maintenance of your vehicle is vital to keep it running smoothly.

One piece of your vehicle that you may overlook is your serpentine belt. Don’t know what a serpentine belt looks like? It’s the long belt that snakes around the front of your engine. The belt turns constantly every time your engine is running. It supplies parts of your engine the power it needs to keep moving forward. Things like your alternator, air conditioning compressor and your power steering pump are powered by the serpentine belt. On some models, the serpentine belt also supplies power to the water pump, power brakes and radiator fan. It plays a vital role in keeping your vehicle running properly.

With time, exposure to the elements and age, your serpentine belt wears out. If a serpentine belt snaps, the battery of your vehicle would die rapidly. It usually only takes a few miles for it to be drained before it dies. The issues that would result in a broken serpentine belt varies depending on what it powers. Some vehicle owners have had their engine overheat due to the fan and waterpump not being properly powered. In other cases, the steering and brakes have been affected, making it harder to maneuver the vehicle to safety. All of these issues can be easily avoided by regular maintenance.

The owner’s manual for your vehicle will advise when the best time to replace your serpentine belt. Another option is asking your service advisor for their recommendation based on the belts’ current wear. The service advisor has several ways to test the belt to make sure you stay safe on the road. Your serpentine belt is also checked when your car gets an inspection.

Properly maintaining your vehicle is crucial to keep it running smoothly. Most dealerships, like Coast Nissan, have a convenient service department that makes getting your investment serviced a breeze. For more information about the numerous services Coast Nissan has to offer.

Nissan Announces e-Bio Fuel-Cell Research

Coast Nissan 4 shutterstock_419253232

Nissan recently released that it is in the process of researching a Solid Oxide Fuel-Cell system that will run off of a bio-ethanol electric power. This new technology would be the first of its kind for automotive use worldwide. The technology would make vehicles run with high efficiency, using various fuels like ethanol and natural gas mixed with oxygen to create electricity.

This e-Bio Fuel-cell produces a great amount of electricity through its power generator, the Solid Oxide Fuel-Cell system, using bio-ethanol in the vehicle. The vehicle this technology would power would have a very efficient power system that would rival the distances that gasoline-fueled cars have. Not only would this technology make the car efficient, but it would make the ride silent.

Fuel-cells use chemicals that mix with oxygen that eliminate the waste of harmful exhaust and other byproducts. These kinds of fuels are widely available across the globe. As the technology continues to develop, it will become easier for the average consumer to use. Maintenance and other costs would be similar to the costs of a standard electric vehicle currently on the market.

This technology pushes society to reevaluate zero-emission vehicles as the new standard. Nissan recently released a concept car that reflects their ongoing research. It is based on a e-NV200 MPV and uses a 24kWh battery that allows it to drive over 373 miles. The vehicle also has the ability to run on ethanol-blended water, which is easy and safe to use. Nissan believes this is a sustainable fuel source because it is based off a substance that is mostly sugar cane and corn.

As Nissan continues to research new technology and the constantly changing needs of the consumer, they continue to create high quality vehicles. To view the latest models Nissan has to offer, visit Coast Nissan.

The Nissan GT-R Is The Fastest Drift Car

2017 GTR Cardinale Nissan

The Nissan GT-R has become the fastest drift car on the planet after the team at NISMO modified to reach speeds of 190mph, while going sideways. The car was never meant to be a drifter – it was meant to be a fast-paced thrill on the race course.

The modifications for the car include a complete overhaul of the interiors and dual-clutch transmission. They have been replaced with racing seats, a cage and a sequential gearbox. Rear-wheel drive has replaced the car’s original all wheel drive system. To get the beast roaring, a 4L twin-turbo V6 engine resides under the hood and is paired with a good nitrous injection system. It can now produce an eye-pooping 1390 horsepower.

To help with the drifting, the front tires are bigger than the rear ones. The suspension has undergone a complete overhaul to accommodate this. The GT-R was always meant to be quick on the lap but everything on the car was scrutinized and revised to make it go as fast and as sideways as possible. The GT-R set the world record with Japanese driver Masato Kawabata behind the wheels.

Although, the car does not quite scary to drive with the right expertise, anything is possible. The original GT-R is an amazing car in itself and can leave competitors behind with ease. Coast Nissan offers the GT-R and other stunning Nissan models.

A Review Of The Safe 2017 Nissan Pathfinder

2017 Pathfinder

Safety

Most of the Pathfinder’s safety systems are similar to last year’s model. However, it is easy to see that the safety measures have improved on this model with the introduction of the front emergency braking and intelligent cruise control. A major introduction is that of the Around View Monitor that lets you track moving objects as you drive.

Conclusion

The Pathfinder has it’s own base of fans and rightfully so. It can offer some amazing features and makes sure nothing is complicated for the drivers to learn. Price is another major factor as to why the car is so popular. Add to this, the fact that that nee features have been introduced and the exterior revamp, the car is definitely going to be a hot seller. It will also give Nissan the opportunity to keep the car for the next few years without it being too many upgrades. Overall, the Pathfinder is definitely a car that is recommended that want to have fun in an SUV and still feel the power.

Coast Nissan has the best Nissan models on offer and you can experience them in real life by driving down to the showroom in California.

The car comes with a V6. 3.8L engine and is available in 5 trim levels. On 4 of these trim levels – LX, EX, EX-L, and Touring – all-wheel drive is available and they operate on a six-speed automatic transmission. The Nissan Leaf Is Fuel Free And Fun!

Nissan Leaf Review Long Term

The Nissan Leaf not only fairs pretty well in terms of energy efficiency and operational costs, but also has a striking appeal in its exterior and interior design.

The Leaf is available in five separate exterior colors namely the blue ocean, brilliant silver, cayenne red, glacier pearl and super black. The cabin provides a modest space for individuals both in the front as well as rear seats.  As far as the drive quality of the car is concerned, the MacPherson strut front suspension and Torsion beam rear suspension both facilitate a smooth and jerk free ride across most terrains. The Leaf offers a sizeable boot capacity which may be further enhanced by split folding the rear seat backs. The bucket front seats and height adjustable driver’s seat help minimize the strain of long journeys.

In addition to this, the EV offers a variety of other driver convenience features such as cruise control, retained accessory power, tilt adjustable steering wheel, electric speed-proportional power steering and both audio and cruise controls mounted on the steering wheel for ease of access. There are several other tech features such as cargo light area, climate control, front reading lights and electro chromatic rearview mirror, all of which lend a contemporary feel to the cabin.

Apart from the standard convenience features, the Leaf also offers a range of safety technologies which ensure a safe and reliable ride. Some of these features are four wheel ABS, stability and traction control, electronic brake force distribution, engine immobilzer, airbags, tire pressure monitoring and remote anti theft alarm system.
