2015 Nissan Versa Makes Life Easier

Life is easier when you can bring everything you need. The Versa Sedan’s oversized trunk means there’s no need to compromise. If you have a gig after work – no problem! You can load your kit in and keep it safe and out of sight. Inside, versatile storage options get things organized with places for all of your essentials – even those lucky drumsticks. When Nissan engineers were designing the Versa’s interior, they pushed the wheels to the corners, allowing the suspension to move out and away from the cabin. This resulted in plenty of leg room for all passengers or more convenient storage area with the rear fold-down seats. With available 60/40 split fold-down rear seats, the Versa gives you real flexibility carrying people and cargo. The huge pass-through means tall and wide items are always welcome along for the ride. Nissan’s Around View Monitor & Moving Object Detection Tech Lent to Hitachi Construction Machinery Co.

Nissan has licensed its Around View Monitor and Moving Object Detection (MOD) technology, which was co-developed with Clarion Co., LTD, for use by Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd (HCM). This new partnership will be a step in the right direction for autonomous driving technology in Nissan commercial vehicles. The Around View Monitor (AVM) is a parking support system that allows you to see the vehicle’s surroundings in real time using four exterior cameras; while MOD is a driving assistance feature that uses images from the AVM cameras to detect moving objects around the vehicle and warn the driver. The licensing agreement between Nissan and Hitachi Construction Machinery allows HCM the use of AVM and MOD technology on its massive haul trucks and hydraulic excavators working at large open-pit mines. Carlos Ghosn Discusses Zero-Emission Cars

The Renault-Nissan Alliance sold its 200,000th zero emission car last month and the its most popular EV only launched four years ago. The Nissan LEAF is by far the top selling electric vehicle worldwide and sales are up by 20% this year. Carlos Ghosn, the alliance CEO, believes that people are switching to EV’s for several reasons; the first is that they are convenient. They can be refueled at home or at the office from multiple energy sources. Along those same lines, EV’s are economical – even with gasoline prices falling, Consumer Reports recently estimated operating costs of a Nissan LEAF in the United States at 3.5 cents per mile. Lastly, Carlos believes that EV’s are fun and reliable: Globally, the Nissan and Renault EVs have the highest customer satisfaction rates than any same brand vehicle. Nissan Brazil Transforms Children Sketches into Real Sketches

Nissan Brazil workers’ children were asked to submit an entry into the “Automobile of the Future” drawing contest during Children’s Day this year. The Nissan Design America Rio department was asked to judge the contest. This team ended up going way beyond and transforming the selected winners into real sketches. The winners were announced after Children’s Day and the team of judges admitted to being blown away with the level of creativity exhibited by the kids. “The joy of working with children is the opportunity to deal with freedom from all restrictions,” said Robert Bauer, designer-in-chief of Nissan Design America Rio (NDA-R). “There are no limits when it comes to the kids’ imagination. As professional designers, we can see through the imagination of a child and realize what is possible. Kids allow themselves to draw anything and change the perspective. They don’t think outside the box because they don’t have this ‘box.’ There is something refreshing in working with the kids – the joy of life and their sharp sense of recreating the world are very inspiring. In all the drawings recreated in our studio, we noticed a concern with people, the environment and its preservation. It was wonderful to share our studio with them because they are our future, and they create worlds adults could never imagine. It is an experience that brings us energy and makes us rethink our concepts.” If you would like to read the full article please click on the link below:

Nissan’s Social Media Campaign Plays Pranks on Bystanders

Nissan has found a very unique way to deliver the “world’s cleanest car;” the Japanese automaker has hit the streets and play pranks on innocent bystanders. This campaign includes a series of online videos which showcase a zero-emissions Nissan Leaf with self-cleaning nano-paint technology getting real dirty – sort of. “The LEAF is already one of the cleanest vehicles around even without this incredibly innovative paint technology; that said, we’re not afraid to get our hands dirty to take this to the next level,” said Pierre Loing, vice president, Product Planning, Nissan North America, Inc. “Getting fans involved via this social media campaign is a fun, creative way to show how the LEAF can stay clean no matter how dirty the world around it may be. A marriage with the Ultra-Ever Dry® exterior coating truly puts this LEAF in a league of its own, and we’re excited to see where this technology can take us.” If you would like to read the full article please click on the link below:

Nissan Returns to the Super Bowl After 17 Years

Nissan announced that it will be returning to Super Bowl TV advertising since its last appearance there in 1997. Nissan caught wind that the Big Game stage will be less crowded this year and decided to take advantage of the open space. This gives Nissan a great chance to extend its “Big Moments” advertising strategy which lately has seen it sponsoring U.S. college football’s Heisman Trophy, for instance, and expanding its multimedia engagement with NBC’s hit show, The Voice. Nissan Offering Free Public Charging for New LEAF buyers in Atlanta

Nissan is offering Atlanta buyers of the all-electric LEAF its own money-saving holiday special: no cost public charging for two years. “Atlanta is America’s biggest market for LEAF, and access to free public charging can enhance the convenience electric car and motivate additional consumers to make the switch to Nissan LEAF,” said Brendan Jones, director, Nissan Electric Vehicle Sales and Infrastructure. “As the top-selling electric car brand, Nissan is actively working with key partners to ramp up charging infrastructure in Metro Atlanta to make more charging options available for the thousands of area LEAF owners.” Nissan believes that this new promotion will impact sales dramatically – Atlanta has been a crucial LEAF market since 2013. The Japanese automaker recognized the high occupancy toll lanes and a number of major companies who now provide workplace charging for their employees, and decided that this would be a perfect place for their electric vehicle to sell. Nissan Revolutionizes the Vehicle Rearview Mirror

Although rearview cameras will not be required on all new cars until May 2018, Nissan has already taken steps forward by adding the benefits of a camera to the rearview mirror. The “Smart Rearview Mirror” may appear to look like a standard mirror; however, the driver is able to flip a switch in order to get a much clearer view of what is behind the car. This makes it easy to see behind tall passengers, headrests and piles of suitcases. The mirror meets federal regulations and is available if the camera ever fails, or if the customer prefers to go old school. Nissan Manufacturing Facility has no Plans of Slowing Down

Everyone in the automotive industry has slowed their production in October for the third straight month, slowing the North American’s overall manufacturing output. Nissan’s Smyrna plant, on the other hand, has no plans of slowing down. Justin Saia, Corporate Communications Manager, Nissan North America, said: “The Smyrna plant is actually the largest producing automotive plant in North America through the first 10 months of the calendar year, with production up nearly 14% year-over-year.” Auto production fell 1.2% in October, 1.9% in September and 7.2% in August; however, despite the downfall in production, auto sales have remained strong in October.
