Nissan SUV Turned into PS4 Controller to Play Digital Soccer

Nissan, Konami and Sony recently joined forces to convert one of Nissan’s most popular SUV models into a PS4 controller. This is all the latest trend in the gaming world – turning random objects, or nontraditional items into game controllers. The Nissan Qashqai crossover was designed to play Pro Evolution Soccer 2016. “Players pass the ball with the brake pedal and shoot on goal with the gas pedal, controlling the direction of players with the steering wheel. The windshield washer lever handles cross passes, the phone button makes players sprint, and the turn signal is used to navigate up and down.” Examples of a few nontraditional controllers that have used to play popular video games include: feet, bongos, a guitar hero controller, keyboard and mouse, etc.

Nissan Color Studio Launched on Versa Model

The Nissan Versa Note is the second model to receive Nissan’s Color Studio personalization program. The young program first launched on the JUKE model. The automaker quickly began to receive positive feedback from its customers which initiated the automaker’s interest in extending the program into other models. The Color Studio program offers a number of accessories and allows a customers to customize up to 13 accessories on their cars. A few of the accessories cost extra and can be installed at a local Nissan dealership.

Nissan Announces Increase in Production Output in South African Facility

Nissan Motor Co. plans to increase its production output of its South African facility. In a recent press release, Nissan expects to see an increase of 80,000 units per year; in fact, the overall number of vehicles produced in South Africa is expected to grow to 622,000 by the end of this year. Nissan South Africa Managing Director, Mike Whitfield, recently said: “Like any investment decision there are a number of key milestones, but we are moving forward. It would be a new product with a lot more potential in Africa.”

Nissan CEO Plans to Reach 10% U.S. Market Share

Nissan Motor Co.’s CEO, Carlos Ghosn, recently revealed that the auto group plans to continue increasing its sales and market share in the coming months. Ghosn said that the company plans to boost Nissan’s operating profit margin to 8% I the next few months. Additionally, Ghosn plans to capture an 8% global market share is less than a year and a half from his deadline. In a recent interview, Ghosn said: “They’re not envisioning significant growth in the U.S., but it’s a very healthy market at more than 17 million vehicles on an annual trend now. And for next year, they continue to see growth. We’ll make our forecast in January at the Detroit auto show.”

Matt Simmons Tests the GT-R NISMO GT3

Matt Simmons, winner of the 2015 Nissan PlayStation GT Academy International competition, was able to get out on the testing grounds this past weekend. On the track, Simmons was able to test drive the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 race car at the Snetterton circuit in the UK. According to the automaker, the native Australian, has shown terrific work ethic and skill through the Nissan Driver Development Program. At the first test of the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3, Simmons said: “When I go to any test, race day or tuition, it is still pretty surreal to wake up and think that’s what I get to do. It’s weird to adjust and say this is my life. You’ve got to make the most out of the tuition days and learn from these guys. It’s not every day that they can sit in your passenger seat and see directly what you are doing, and the feedback you get I amazing.”

2016 Nissan LEAF Price Announced by Nissan

The price of the 2016 Nissan LEAF has been officially announced. The Japanese automaker revealed that the LEAF will soon be available for purchase at Nissan dealers, including Coast Nissan, in only a few weeks. The new model offers an extended driving range; with an EPA-rated range of 107 miles the LEAF has a starting price of $26,700. Additionally, the LEAF S model continues to be equipped with a 24 kWh battery with an EPA-rated range of 84 miles and a starting price of $21,510 ( after federal tax incentive ). Since dipping its toes in the electric market, Nissan has become the global leader in electric vehicle sales; today, Nissan is known for its leadership and continuous efforts to further advance the EV segment.

Nissan Sales Increase Compared to the Year Before

The popular Japanese automaker, Nissan Motor Co., published its sales results for October, earlier this week and we found that its recent sales figures demonstrate overall growth in the company. Across the nation, dealers reaped the benefits of sales growth; in fact, sales improved by 13% in October – totaling 116,047 units delivered. More specifically, the Japanese automaker’s crossover, trucks and SUV sales set an October record. Nissan reported a sales improvement of 26% in this category. Murano crossovers set a new record for October, with 24,939 vehicles delivered this year, the crossover reported significant growth. Moreover, the Versa saw a sales increase of 25%.

Nissan Reports Boost in Sales and Net Profit

As a Nissan dealership, Coast Nissan, is proud to report that in the first half of the FY2015, the Japanese automaker boosted its sales and net profit in the North American market and in Western Europe. Nissan also reported that it was able to increase its unit sales in China. This report is based on the first half of the fiscal year; the automaker reported consolidated net revenue of 5.93 trillion yen – an overall increase of 15.3% over the same period the year before. A benefitting factor in the North American market was the launch of the 2016 Altima which boosted sales tremendously. In fact, Altima sales have grown more than 60% in the U.S. over the past five years and the new model is anticipated to help boost its sales even further.

Nissan’s Impressive Autonomous Driving Technology Tested in Tokyo

Earlier this week, before the start of the Tokyo Motor Show, Nissan took its Intelligent Driving prototype out on the streets of Tokyo, during one of the busiest times of the day – to see what this car can really do. Early morning commuting in Tokyo is considered one of the worst times to drive, which is why Nissan thought it would be the perfect scenario testing. The car handled itself with ease; in fact, the Nissan Engineer, Tetsuya Lijima, only had to take control of the vehicle one time – when they were at an intersection, turning left and there were no lines in the road for the car to follow. “This is not perfect. The driver must be prepared and we must keep the driver involved.” Lijima believes that the technology’s biggest obstacle to overcome will be driver complacency. It is easy for the driver to forget that he is still responsible for maneuvering the vehicle. Lijima admits that it is easy for the driver to become complacent. However, the technology’s most impressive feature is its ability to react smoothly and quickly when being cut off. Automotive News said: “The braking was controlled and precise rather than panicked. The car functioned like an experienced driver.”
