Nissan Titan XD Warrior Concept Premieres

The Nissan Titan XD Warrior Concept first premiered at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit earlier this year. The new pickup showcased its heavy-duty Warrior Concept features and equipment. Nissan built the concept to share the same wheelbase and length as the current XD, only, the XD Warrior features a “Samurai meets Cyborg” appearance. The Japanese automaker equipped the pickup with carbon fiber fenders, tech-equipped cabin and taillight spoilers like never before. Additionally, the XD warrior received a custom paint job, better known as “Thunder”, which is a matte-gunmetal, accented with “Magma” and black highlights. Contact Coast Nissan to test drive the Titan XD or receive updates of the Warrior Concept’s availability.

Carlos Ghosn Talks about Consolidation in the Automotive Industry

Earlier this month, Carlos Ghosn, Nissan’s CEO, discussed the idea of automotive consolidation. In this speech, Ghosn touched on the several reasons why he believe the industry is better off heading in this direction; Revealing that the best way for automakers to reduce development costs is to partner together. In a recent interview, Ghosn said: “A lot of people think consolidation means A buys B or B absorbs C. But we have been partnering with Daimler AG for 5 years. And we have already initiated 14 projects between Renault-Nissan and Daimler.” If you would like to learn more about the latest Nissan news, stay tuned to Coast Nissan’s blog.

Step by Step, Nissan Commits to Self-Driving Cars

Coast Nissan 2_selfdrivingautocar

Renault-Nissan will offer vehicles that are able to take control while a car is stuck in a single highway lane in stop-and-go traffic, later this year. In just two more years – as early as 2018, we will see the availability of multiple-lane highway support. And by 2020, the French-Japanese carmaker plans to introduce autonomous vehicles capable of navigating intersections and city driving. When you think about it, four years isn’t that far away. In that timeframe, the company says that it will launch more than 10 vehicles with some form of autonomous driving features. EVP of Engineering, Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi, said at a recent press event, “We will implement autonomous driving step by step.” He adds that the company is developing the necessary systems to monitor drivers and make sure that they are ready to take the wheel when necessary. For example, a wristband would monitor vital signs. CEO Carlos Ghosn said that “even a fully autonomous car still needs a driver with eyes on the road and hands on or near the wheel.” He hints at Tesla, saying that “not all electric vehicles …cost six figures,” and he commits that Nissan is focused on electric and self-driving cars for the mass market. “This is a global priority,” which is supported by the fact that the Nissan LEAF represents over 45 percent of EVs on the road. New Frontier on the Way?

Coast Nissan 1_Copper2016Frontier

Photos of what could be the 2018 Nissan Frontier have recently been spied online. Though it’s at least two years away, the midsize truck, similar to the Navara, seems to be making its testing debut around metro-area Detroit. The test trucks, with their taped badges, raise a lot of interesting curiosity about whether this is the Navara, intended for foreign markets, or the next Frontier, which is available in the U.S.. One such test truck was marked as a diesel, which prompts us to wonder if Nissan has new ideas for the U.S. midsize pickup market. It appears to have a larger body size than the NP300, and hints at a possible consolidation to market a single midsize truck globally. The 2016 Frontier King Cab is available in three editions: S, SV 4-cylinder, and SV V6. Get a quote for your trade-in, and swing by for a test drive of the current model year midsize pickup. U.S. Sales Climb for Nissan

Coast Nissan 1_Rogue2016

Nissan has had a pretty strong end to a very strong year. As gas prices remain low, interest rates stay historically attainable, and consumer interest rises in sport-utility vehicles and crossovers, the Japanese automaker continues its track record of strong U.S. sales. In the month of December, Nissan’s U.S. sales climbed by 18.7%, over the same month in 2014. As consumers rally around sport-utility vehicles and crossovers, and while gasoline prices remain low, Nissan is seeing new interest in vehicles outside of its traditional core, sedans and compact cars. In fact, the company sold an all-time high of 1.48 million vehicles. The Rogue crossover was the lead in December and for the full year, with December sales rising 78% and 2015 sales rising 44.2%. The Rogue was the company’s second-best selling vehicle of the year. If you haven’t test-driven the Rogue yet, stop by Coast Nissan today in San Luis Obispo. Spotted in California: the 2017 Nissan GT-R

Coast Nissan 2_GTRannivgold

The 2017 Nissan GT-R has been spied on California roads, undergoing testing. Though instantly recognizable underneath its camouflaging, the new model year receives some updates, including new taillights. GT-R program manager Hiroshi Tamura has said that he wants to improve upon the handling, ride quality and noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) levels. While we don’t have many details (since the car was heavily camouflaged), this suggests that the new GT-R could be equipped with a retuned suspension, updated steering system and more sound deadening materials. Tamura has articulated that he plans to move the GT-R upmarket, as a “not just fancy, but real premium” offering. The car will retain the 3.8-liter biturbo V6 engine with 545 horsepower in the standard model and 600 hp in the NISMO edition. That said, we do not yet know if there will be any performance tweaks to the engine. Stay updated on the release details, or test drive the 2016 GT-R today at Coast Nissan in San Luis Obispo.

Nissan Builds U.S. Infrastructure of DC Fast Chargers with BMW

Coast Nissan 1_DCcharging

Nissan has partnered with BMW to build out the U.S. electric infrastructure, in an effort to make EVs easier to adopt. The two automakers have covered 19 states thus far, installing over 120 chargers to-date. The DC Fast Chargers are not brand-specific, and they can refuel a battery to 80% capacity in under 30 minutes. Now, you can charge your Nissan LEAF or BMW i3, or other brands of EVs, if the car supports one of the two connections built into each charger (CHAdeMO or CCS). What’s more, Nissan’s EZ-Charge cards also work with the new stations, providing even more ease and convenience. Nissan leads a growing number of automakers who recognize that the “electrification” of our vehicles will only continue, and they are investing in building out the necessary infrastructure to support this growing movement. If you haven’t yet driven the award-winning 2016 Nissan LEAF, what are you waiting for? Stop by Coast Nissan in San Luis Obispo today, and join those in the know.
