2016 Titan XD: Tow in Style

Coast Nissan 2_TitanXD

For those seeking a pickup truck with towing capability a bit beefier than your average pickup, but not quite as demanding as the three-quarter-ton class, Nissan’s all-new, full-sized Titan XD should hit just the right spot. The all new truck is hitting dealerships as we speak, and falls between the half-ton (1500) class trucks and the three-quarter-ton class (2500). The former can tow up to 8,500 pounds, while the latter tows up to 17,000 lbs. Nissan seeks to capture the “swing vote” – those in the middle, who are looking for the perfect “in-between” truck. The Titan XD is heavy and stable enough that it can tow over 12,000 lbs; but handles with more ease and flexibility than the stiff trucks that can tow a few thousand more. Contact Coast Nissan for more information on the 2016 Titan XD, and discover that it is possible to be tough and yet stylish at the same time.

Nissan LEAF Outpaces Tesla Model S Sales Twice Over

Coast Nissan 2_LeavVStesla

Global sales of the LEAF are around 200,000 – twice as many as the Chevy Volt, and outpacing the 60,000 US buyers of Tesla’s flagship EV. Despite Tesla’s strong year-to-date sales, the Model S still hasn’t caught up to the Nissan LEAF.   With a next-gen LEAF to hit dealerships very soon, and the Tesla Model X impacting Model S popularity, it’s not hard to understand that sales of the LEAF may very well eclipse that of Tesla’s Model S. Another factor contributing to stronger sales of the LEAF than the luxury Model S EV is the price tag. The Model S typically sells for more than $100,000, while the LEAF is far more accessible to the masses, at just a fraction of that cost. Stop by Coast Nissan in San Luis Obispo today, and test drive the 2016 LEAF. Be sure to ask about year-end specials.

Nissan Aims to Surpass Toyota in Market Share by 2020

Coast Nissan 1_market share

According to Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn, the company will outperform its biggest competitor, Toyota, and capture market share to claim the spot as the wold’s largest automaker by 2020. Nissan’s sales growth through November of this year has out-paced Honda and Toyota, but this is not enough for Ghosn, who says Nissan will capture 10% of the U.S. market – that’s an additional 1.5% over current market share for Nissan. Part of this goal entails a reorganization of the top executives at Nissan USA. We recently a handful of executives shuffled, and Ghosn plans to continue this effort, to give more foreign talent the opportunity to hold leadership positions at Nissan USA. All eyes will be on Nissan in the coming year, as they race toward closing that gap with Toyota. Not only will some creative stops be pulled out, in order to capture additional market share, but we also expect to see some very interesting developments to the vehicle lineup and roadmap. For more information on what’s coming, stop by CardinaleWay Nissan in San Luis Obispo today.

“V2G” Tech in Nissan LEAF Returns Power to the Grid

Coast Nissan 1_V2G

In a pilot program in Denmark, now the multi-kWh battery in the Nissan LEAF can be used as a mobile power plant for homes, offices, or for returning energy to the grid. Similar to Tesla’s Powerwall, Nissan’s “Vehicle 2 Grid” (V2G) technology could your home during peak hours, saving money on energy bills. Charge the LEAF’s battery at night during off-peak hours, and take advantage of lower energy costs. Receive a discount on energy bills in addition, by sending extra energy back to the grid. In a partnership with energy company ENEL, Nissan’s V2G charger runs around $900 – much less than Tesla’s $3,000 Powerwall system. The V2G system will rollout in Denmark, followed by Germany, Netherlands and other northern European regions. To receive updates, or to test drive the LEAF, visit Coast Nissan in San Luis Obispo. Nissan Tops List of 6,000 Corporations Recognized for Sustainability Efforts

Coast Nissan 2_TabletShopping

Nissan was recently ranked among the top 5% of global corporations participating in the international climate change program, led by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). The CDP collected and analyzed environmental strategies and CO2 emission-reduction efforts from more than 6,000 corporations. Nissan was the highest-ranked auto company in Japan for the second year running, which highlights not only the automaker’s focus on combating climate change with its electric vehicles, but the fact that the company aims to reduce its global impact. Nissan has been vocal about its goal of developing cars that drastically reduce “well-to-wheel” CO2 emissions by 2050. In its annual sustainability report for FY2014, we learned that Nissan reduced its carbon footprint by 22.6% in the last nine years – a full two years earlier than initially forecasted. Sales of the LEAF earned Nissan a spot on the Climate “A” List, and also noted by the Carbon Disclosure Project were the company’s efforts to reduce CO2 emissions within its manufacturing process. By all accounts above, and more, it is clear that Nissan is not just a purely capitalist-driven corporation, but that it truly understands what is important to consumers, and is taking a comprehensive approach to sustainable practices. Test drive the LEAF today at Coast Nissan in San Luis Obispo, and ask about year-end incentives.

Coming Soon: Nissan EV with Range Extender

Coast Nissan 2 red leaf chillin

Nissan, the world’s leading electric vehicle manufacturer, plans to introduce an EV with range extender. According to Yoshi Shimoida, Nissan’s deputy general manager for electric car engineering, it will be “an entirely new car with a chassis separate than the one the LEAF is built on.” The range extender engine will be used solely to generate electricity, unlike the internal combustion engine on the Chevy Volt, which can drive the front wheels under some circumstances. Shimoida said that Nissan will unveil the name of this range extender technology next year, noting the similarity to the approach BMW uses for its i3 REx. “But we call it a series hybrid,” he says. Nissan joins other automakers in the goal of putting more EVs on the road, and offering more options in the lineup of electric vehicles is an important step in that direction. Coast Nissan is proud to offer incentives on a new LEAF lease, there has never been a better time to go electric. Stop by today to learn more, and see which model is right for you.
