Nissan has announced that it will expand its cooperation with partner Mercedes-Benz to build a new mid-sized pickup truck for the German automaker. Mercedes-Benz plans to target commercial and private clients in Europe, Latin America, Australia and South Africa, and will share some of the underpinnings with an-all Nissan NP300 truck. Daimler Chief Executive Dieter Zetsche said: “Entering the rapidly growing segment of midsize pickups is an important step in continuing our global growth path.” Nissan will build the pickup truck for several markets in Argentina and in the Nissan plant in Barcelona. Lastly, Nissan states that the Barcelona plant will produce about 120,000 units annually, while the Cordoba plant will produce about 70,000 vehicles a year.
