Nissan Reinvents The Hybrid Engine

nissan logo 1

When it comes to brilliant design and new innovations, Nissan is always coming out with something new. The latest endeavor of their engineers is something known as e-Power, which will be present on the all new Nissan Note. It’s a new twist on the typical internal combustion engines that powers most cars, and it operates essentially like a hybrid vehicle. Come explore this latest technological masterpiece that has already found a home in upcoming Nissan cars.

The typical hybrid engine works in a simple way. It still has a regular internal combustion engine, but it is supported by an electric motor that runs off a battery. By using a method known as recursion, the car is able to charge the battery while the car is braking. This ensures great gas mileage for hybrid cars as the engine can rely on both gasoline and electricity, depending on how fast you want to go.

An e-powered car operates a little bit differently. The motor works primarily as a generator, providing electricity which charges the battery. The internal combustion engine itself is not linked to the wheels, but rather an electrical engine is. This is what provides power to get the wheels turning. Most importantly, these changes allow the internal combustion engine to operate at the revs best suited for a lower power consumption, saving on electricity and gas. The best part about these engines is that they can output horsepower levels at the same levels as regular gas powered cars, meaning you don’t have to compromise.

Rediscover The Outdoors With The New NV Passenger From Nissan

Nissan NV passenger

When it comes to camping, there are many considerations to take before embarking on your wilderness adventure. There is all the food and supplies you will need, along with sleeping bags and tents for everyone involved. And of course you can’t forget all the sporting equipment for some intense kayaking or canoes for a calmer ride. But the biggest question is, where are you going to fit all this? If you love long outdoor trips and need a versatile ride that will bring you and your friends off road with no trouble, then consider the new Nissan NV Passenger.

While it may look a bit strange at first, the design has been perfected to balance cargo space as well as passenger seating. Most companies don’t offer a full size van that is not a mini-van, but Nissan knows that sometimes you need all the space you can get. The design ensures you get the maximum storage possible for all your essentials, and also comes with something no other company offers: removable split seating. This means the NV can work around how many people you need to bring along, with a total of 324 different seating combinations to experiment with. That’s right–324!

But the best part is that you don’t have to be a dedicated outdoorsman in order to appreciate all the NV Passenger has to offer. The versatility of the car is unmatched by any competitor, and the V8 engine is perfect for driving off road or just down the highway. The #NVPassenger is also equipped to tow your toughest loads, so you never have to leave those extra jet skis or cargo at home.

Come fully explore this unique full-size van at Coast Nissan, where our friendly staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have. You can also check out our entire stock of new and pre-owned vehicles online at www.coastnissan.com.

Come See How Nissan Is Changing The Way Businesses Use Company Cars

shutterstock_191693912

Nissan has always been a pioneer in electric car technology. From releasing the first economic electric car to creating the first battery that can propel an electric car for over 100 miles, Nissan is always pushing the boundaries of technology. The company’s latest endeavor has been more focused on creating more efficient and emission free solutions for business, including a brand new fleet of test cars at their research facility in the United Kingdom.

At the Nissan Technical Centre Europe, Nissan is testing a new direct to grid integration system for its electric cars. This small project consists of eight company vehicles that are always plugged in. When an employee needs to go out for whatever reason, they are able to use these electric cars to get to their destination and back. The range on the cars is perfect for the short trips into town or to a meeting at a local restaurant, and being electric cars they produce no harmful emissions. Additionally, this system ensures the cars are always charged and ready to use, unlike a gas powered card which needs to be refueled.

The most important part of this system is its direct grid integration. Because of this, they can both receive electricity as well as give back in times of greater stress. These cars essentially act as extra electrical storage for the larger grid, while still operating like a normal car whenever necessary. Vice president for Vehicle Design and Development David Moss commented, “It gives us the opportunity to showcase to the world how the energy management systems Nissan is developing can work in a real-life business situation.”

Electric cars are quickly becoming the way of the future, so head down to Coast Nissan for a look at the Nissan Leaf. We also have a great selection of the newest Nissan models, and you can find us online at www.coastnissan.com.

Be Confident In Your Safety With Nissan’s Safety Shield System

Nissan Coast

Each time you go for a drive you should feel confident in your car. Confident in the ability to navigate through the city and highway smoothly and quickly. Confident that your car has been designed and built to be reliable and powerful. But most importantly, you should be confident that the safety features can keep you and your passengers out of harm’s way. With Nissan’s patented Safety Shield technology, you can put your mind at ease knowing the system is hard at work monitoring, responding and protecting.

Monitoring is the first big feature of the #SafetyShield system. Without this step, the car would not be able to react to or even identify problems in the car or the environment. The car monitors the weather conditions and proper tire inflation, as well as alerting the driver to dangerous situations. This includes technology such as predictive forward collision warning and blind spot warning, both of which track how nearby cars are moving.

Responding does exactly what the name suggests: reacting to the changes that the monitoring system detects. This means in the event of an impending forward collision it can automatically brake the car if the driver does not respond to the alert themselves. This is key for avoiding accidents. This system also includes features like traction control for bad weather and brake force distribution which accounts for extra passenger weight.

Finally, Nissan’s design choices include numerous airbags and head restraints to minimize the impact of a collision and protect loved ones. Nissan cars also include both a LATCH and SNUG system which work with child seats to keep them secure.

Nissan is always committed to keeping you and your family safe, so come test drive the new Altima or Maxima at Coast Nissan. You can also check out all our safety precautions online at www.coastnissan.com.

Find Your Ideal Sports Car From Nissan’s NISMO Division

nissan performance

Nissan has a particular division responsible for the creation of their high performance and sport vehicles known as NISMO. This group was founded on the cornerstones of power, agility and technology, and they perfectly incorporate all three of these elements into every car. One of the longest standing NISMO models is the Z line, which has evolved over the years from its first model in 1969. The latest Nissan NISMO sports car, the 370Z, creates a unique and exhilarating driving experience at an incredibly affordable price point.

The 370Z NISMO Tech starts at a little over $46,000, and is so loaded with power and features that Business Insider called it, “…an incredible value for the money in sports cars.” The 350-horsepower V6 engine accelerates the car quickly to breathtaking speeds, while still maintaining the agility and precision that are so important in sports car design. This is why agility is a major focus area of NISMO, as speed is useless if you can’t safely and effectively control the car. The design allows for an aerodynamic and stylish look, which is accented by the powerful raised hood and integrated spoiler on the back.

The interior also will leave you breathless. Fine leather on the seats with a great color scheme is comfortable and will hold you snug at higher speeds. The infotainment system provides navigation assistance, multiple audio inputs, Bluetooth capabilities and smartphone connectivity. The trunk area even incorporates a hatchback into its design to provide enough room for suitcases and gear for a weekend getaway.

The #NISMO370Z was summed up as, “…easy on the wallet and fulfilling when you put the pedal down and dig into a corner.” This sports car is exciting and fun to drive, and you too can test drive one at Coast Nissan, or you can find all of our new 2017 models online at www.coastnissan.com.

Nissan Works To Better Connect People And Cars

shutterstock_191693912

One of the more recent areas of study in the automotive industry is the theory of connected vehicles. Through specific design choices and software developments, car companies are looking to develop connectivity programs that work across all their models. This would allow for a better and simpler user experience over multiple cars, not just one. To do this, Nissan has announced new partnerships and the hiring of over 300 individuals to improve the current systems and integrate them in their many models.

Just like with social media, cars can allow people to be better connected with each other. By creating user friendly applications such as voice recognition calling and customizable alerts, Nissan keeps people in touch with others even while driving. This means a safer driving experience, as smartphone integration allows access to information without having to glance down every couple of seconds or fiddle with a small device. Newer Nissan models already allow for the car to notify drivers when they receive a call, email or text so you never miss an important moment. Navigation is also a major focus, as connecting to the latest traffic updates and road closures means you always are on the fastest route.

The biggest push Nissan is trying to make is the idea of a standard technology and connectivity across different companies. This would mean each car’s infotainment or media console works in a similar manner, allowing for a smooth transition between driving different vehicles. People who travel for work or vacation often need a rental car, and a standard design would mean you know how to operate it whether you are in a Ford or the all-new #NissanMaxima.

These innovative design principles are what keep Nissan’s cars at the forefront of technology and usability. Come test drive one of our award winning cars at Coast Nissan, or check us out on the web at www.coastnissan.com.

Nissan Sets Goal To Release Self-Driving Cars By 2020

shutterstock_364249241

When it comes to designing advanced features, car manufacturers can only get so far on their own. Most companies consist of automotive engineers who simply don’t have enough technological expertise to make new systems such as a self-driving car, at least on their own. That’s why partnerships with other companies are so important for promoting growth within the industry, as they allow for more complex ideas to be implemented. Nissan recently partnered with several companies to produce autonomous vehicles by 2020.

Beginning with a Microsoft partnership in late September, Nissan has continued to push the limits of car design with their own 300-person tech division, named Alliance Connected Vehicle and Mobility Services. This group will be focusing on three major areas: software development, cloud engineering and data analytics. These three have been identified as the biggest areas that need to be developed in order to produce self-driving cars, which Nissan plans to launch twelve of by 2020.

Software development is likely the most important area, as a car’s onboard computer needs to be able to properly incorporate all its features. Additionally, software is the “driver” of a self-driving car, scanning the road and making adjustments. Cloud engineering and data analytics go hand in hand, as mountains of data collected from different systems must be processed and examined in order for autonomous cars to “learn” how to drive.  To help with both of these, Nissan will be working with the firm Sylpheo as well as the Microsoft Azure cloud platform.

Nissan is continually improving its features through these partnerships, and it shows in cars like the Leaf and Altima. Come test drive our advanced cars at Coast Nissan, and you can also find our inventory online at www.coastnissan.com.

Nissan Looks To Expand its Electric Car Lineup

Nissasn leaf

With technology rapidly advancing, car makers are scrambling to adapt to the coming changes. Self-driving and electric cars are the way of the future, according to expert analysts, and a number of CEOs have already announced new research investments and partnerships. Nissan is one of these companies, but fortunately they have been involved in electric car development since 2010. Nissan recently hinted at the production of a new electric car to complement the already successful Leaf.

Back in 2010, the idea of an electric car seemed foreign to most people. The limited battery life and weaker engine seemed like too much of a trade off from a conventional car. Early adopters however saw the potential in an energy efficient and zero-emission vehicle. Throughout the years the Leaf has evolved, and is now equipped with a battery that can support distances of over 100 miles. Additionally, the engine is responsive and the car feels good to drive. The new #2017Leaf even has new fast charging capabilities to get you powered up in a flash.

The rumored new electric car from Nissan is expected to fill a void in the current market: family seating. Right now most electric vehicles can only fit around four people, and the cargo space simply isn’t enough. The next car will likely be a hatchback for the added trunk capacity, an SUV for a more comfortable seating arrangement and enhanced storage space or a crossover, which would have the passenger space of an SUV but be lighter and more compact.

Look for the all new Nissan Leaf at a dealership near you, such as Coast Nissan. We can help you explore or test drive any of our wide selection of cars, and you can also find us online at www.coastnissan.com.

Join Nissan In Charting A Path Into The Future Of Car Driving

shutterstock_251998009

Self-driving cars are the way of the future. Numerous studies and many experts all agree that in the future we won’t have to drive ourselves to work each morning. Now you can enjoy your coffee and music in bliss as the car adapts to the road and other drivers all on its own. But when will these cars be available? Surprisingly, Nissan has already managed to create an autonomous car that will be out for testing in Japan in the next year, named the #ProPILOT.

While an autonomous car still requires a small amount user input, it’s the closest thing on the market right now to a true self-driving car. The Nissan ProPILOT is a compact car that was designed to navigate on highways in single lane traffic. The system consists of a number of cameras and sensors that monitor how the cars in front and behind are changing speed. It’s easy to turn on with a simple switch, and will help ease the stress of gridlock highway traffic on the way to and from work.

Interestingly, the ProPILOT technology is actually in testing right now, but in a form that you might not expect: chairs. You may have seen a short video with some chairs that move on their own and pick up people as they wait in line (if not just look up Nissan Autonomous Chairs). These chairs are based on the same technology and can automatically follow the chairs in front of them at a set distance. This can make waiting in line much easier and more comfortable.

Nissan is hard at work developing the most advanced technology, and you can expect the same standard on all the current models. So come test drive a Nissan Altima or Leaf for yourself at Coast Nissan, or check out all our cars online at www.coastnissan.com.

The New Nissan Versa Is A Perfect Economic Sedan

Nissan versa

In the world of sedans, there is no shortage of different makes and models. In fact, the market has been so completely flooded with these compact cars that it can be difficult to stand out from the rest. But standing out from the competition has never been a problem for the Nissan Versa, which has received upgrades to its design and features in 2017.

The #NissanVersa, which comes in both a sedan or a hatchback to meet your specific needs, is a long standing veteran that has proven itself to be worth much more than its low price point would suggest. The Versa is one of the most economic sedans available right now, with a low base price and a fuel economy that won’t tax your wallet and an estimated 31 city and 39 highway mpg. This is thanks to the engine, which has been equipped with continuously variable transmission to output a solid 109 horsepower, perfect for this lighter sedan.

Nissan has worked to upgrade the interior over the past year, expanding the back row of seats in order to make even more room for passengers and cargo. The Versa comfortably fits passengers into its small but deceptively spacious design. It also received a brand new grille and swept-back headlights for a bolder look that is reminiscent of the larger Altima, another one of Nissan’s best-selling sedans.

To experience a test drive in the Nissan Versa or any other sedan in our extensive line-up, visit our friendly sales team at Coast Nissan. You’ll find top of the line deals and fantastic service from our staff, and you can also visit us online at www.coastnissan.com.
